Polished Alum Stone

Historically used in the past for medicinal purposes, this astringent 100% natural Alum Stone is particularly effective as an non-pore blocking anti-persperant deodorant crystal, as alum naturally disinfects and deodorises.  It will relieve razor burn.

To use: Wet tip and apply to underarms or to the face after shaving. Reapply when needed. A small piece placed in the washing machine will remove stains and liven up drab white linens.

Crystal deodorants are the natural alternative to chemical and often toxic deodorants, but be aware of what type of Crystal Deodorant you use.  There are many brands on the market that claim to be natural.  But to be sure, check the ingredients and observe the actual appearance of the stone.  100% natural Crystal deodorants are made with Potassium Alum, a naturally occuring, mined mineral salt which is antimicrobial, is not absorbed by the skin and inhibits the growth of bacteria.  A Potassium Alum Crystal has the appearance of marble, and the stone itself is translucent with veins running throught it.  In contrast there are many synthetically produced crystal stones on the market that may claim to be 'natural', but are made with a synthetic ingredient called Ammonium Alum.  These stones appear either clear or cloudy but have no veins.  The cloudy appearance has been obtained by mixing this product with Aluminium Hydroxide, another sythetic.  Unfortunately due to the increasing popularity of 'Crystal Deodorants' it has created an industry which is manufacturing and mass producing something at a cheaper cost to mining it.
